Since 2011, we have been raising sheep at the resort’s own ranch. The ranch has 25 female and 1 male Texel, which is a rare species raised in only 2 places in Hokkaido, as well as 10 female and 1 male Suffolk, which were added in the ranch in 2012. There are now about 650 sheep, including little lambs.

Sheep at Rusutsu Farm

The sheep at Rusutsu Farm are Texel, which is a rare, high-quality species low in fat, and Suffolk, said to be prime lamb. If you’re visiting in summer, come along to the Outdoor Barbecue Garden for some barbecue lamb. The sheep’s wool is used in Rusutsu Wool products.

    Texel is a rare species raised in only 2 places in Hokkaido. It has prime meat quality characterized by its mildly sweet fat and tender texture. Since the meat doesn’t have a strong or distinct flavor and is easy to eat, enjoy it with some salt and pepper.

Rusutsu-mura (village) is located at the foot of Mt. Yotei, one of Hokkaido’s most famous mountains and also known as Ezo Fuji. In an environment blessed with fresh air and clean water, our sheep are carefully raised on the ranch at East Mt. during summer and in the sheepfold during winter.
