Report on the Opening Event of the Dedicated Pickleball Courts

This summer, an opening event was held on 7/9/2025(Sun) at the newly established pickleball-only courts at Rusutsu Resort. Although it was unfortunately rainy in the morning, the weather cleared up in the afternoon, allowing outdoor play to proceed as planned. It turned out to be a perfect day to unveil the new courts.

A lesson by a PJF-certified coach and an exhibition match by Wakana Nagahara

In the morning, a trial session was held at the indoor facility “Arena.” During the lesson by a coach certified by the PJF (Pickleball Japan Federation), participants received careful instruction covering everything from rules to serving and form.

In the afternoon, the event moved to the outdoor dedicated courts, where a powerful exhibition match was held by former badminton world champion Wakana Nagahara. The venue was filled with loud cheers and applause as the crowd watched the brilliant play of an athlete who has competed on the world stage.

In the trial session that followed, participants played seriously while smiling, and it seemed they were able to fully experience the appeal of pickleball.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Ms. Nagahara, the PJF-certified coaches, and everyone who participated in the trial sessions.

The dedicated courts are open until 13/10/2025(Mon)! One hour of free court use with a resort pass

Pickleball is a new sport from the United States that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Played on a court the size of a badminton court, players rally a plastic ball using paddles. Its moderate level of intensity—neither too strenuous nor too light—is a key feature, making it enjoyable for people of all ages, from children to adults. Because players are positioned close to each other, it’s easy to talk while playing, making it a naturally social and exciting sport.

The dedicated pickleball courts at Rusutsu Resort will be open for the season until 13/10/2025(Mon). Those with a resort pass can use the courts for one hour free of charge.

It’s a great activity to enjoy casually in the morning to refresh yourself or after a visit to the amusement park or a round of golf. Why not give pickleball a try this autumn at Rusutsu Resort?
