RUSUTSU FARM SHEEP LAND


This scenic area is surrounded by cute animals and nature. Sheep and ponies enjoy a relaxed tranquil life.
Guests can take photos with the sheep at the “Sheep Petting” event, and there are also special seasonal events such as the “Sheepdog Show”.
This is a relaxing spot where you can take a walk and see the animals.

The new “Sheep Ground” recently opened on 23/06/2021(Wed.) is spacious and calming area perfect for guests to enjoy nature while interact with some of Rusutsu’s friendly animals. Guests can experience sheep grazing and pony petting. From September 2020 a special sheepdog show will commence. This is the perfect place for the whole family to relax and enjoy Rusutsu.
There are around 650 sheep living at the East Mt. sheep farm with approximately 20 are selected to live at the sheep ground. Watching the sheep grazing and enjoying the summer season can be a great way to relax here in Rusutsu. Why not visit the Sheep Ground during your stay.
Texel : Texel sheep typically are small with a white face and originally originated from Texel Island of the coast of the Netherlands in the 19th century.
Suffolk : Larger sized sheep with black face. A variety that is said to have become a model for the anime “Shaun the Sheep”.
For a limited time only, guests can meet and interact with our cute 3-month-old baby lambs, who recently born in March. When you pet these cute, fluffy lambs, you can feel how the wool has a different style or texture depending on the breed of sheep. Meet our cute Rusutsu lambs, and make sure to take a memorable photo.
There is also a very rare blue Texel, born from a Texel whose parents are both pure white. This sheep has black wool.
In the corner of the show area, marked by a yellow fence. No booking is necessary, just turn up.
2 Australian Sheepdogs work hard, demonstrating great skill and training to effectively herd the large flock of Rusutsu sheep from around the large enclosure! Have a fun watching the enthralling sheepdog show.
Fergie is an expected dog with a passion for herding sheep. He is a large friendly dog who often rolls over for belly scratches, however children and strollers should take care. Fergie demonstrates strong natural hunting instincts so caution is always advised.
Lucy is a large sheep dog with a soft and kind nature. Lucy gentle demeanour can be seen as she often prefers to play with the sheep rather than herd them. Make sure to cheer on Lucy so she knows she is doing a good job. he will do his best. He is look forward to your cheer.
In this fun experience guests try becoming a Shepard tasked with returning the flock of sheep back to the hut. There are some obstacles in the field and you have to pass the sheep through them to get points. Work together as a team to collect as many points as possible!
After a short lecture from the staff about the behaviour and habits of sheep, the teams will have a quick strategy meeting to decide on the most efficient way to earn more points within the time limit.
This activity may be more challenging than expected as the sheep flock can be tricky to heard. However successful guests will be able to closely interact with the cute sheep.
