Enjoy Japanese culture and take home a one-of-a-kind creation
If you’re visiting Japan, we hope you’ll take the opportunity to experience its traditional culture. At Rusutsu Resort, we offer two enjoyable activities that anyone can join: Calligraphy Experience and Daruma & Lucky Cat Painting. Both are popular not only with overseas guests but also with visitors from within Japan. Your finished piece can be taken home as a memorable souvenir of your trip.
Calligraphy Experience
This is an activity without an instructor, where you can freely write your preferred words or characters. Once you’ve decided what to write, you will first practise on calligraphy paper. When you feel confident, you will create your final piece on a traditional hand fan (uchiwa). You may write characters or draw illustrations—anything goes! Please feel free to express yourself without worrying about skill level. Completed fans can be taken home.
Calligraphy Experience：1,500 JPY per person
Daruma & Lucky Cat Painting Experience
Choose either a plain white daruma or maneki-neko (lucky cat)—and decorate it using oil-based markers. The finished piece can be taken home as is.
Both items also function as coin banks, making them enjoyable to display while also serving as a fun reason to visit Rusutsu Resort again.
