‘Toshikoshi soba’ – buckwheat noodles on New Year’s Eve

How about celebrating the New Year with “Toshikoshi Soba” for good luck

We will offer a limited quantity of “Toshikoshi Soba” as a special menu, allowing you to reflect on the past year over a bowl of soba. It is said to bring longevity and symbolize cutting away the hardships of the past year, much like easily cutting through soba noodles. You can enjoy it at the restaurants of Rusutsu Resort Hotel & Convention and The Westin Rusutsu Resort.

Experience Calligraphy

Our lesson program is all about providing an accessible calligraphy experience, rather than about writing kanji characters masterfully.

Anyone can join this experience, especially those who enjoy writing by hand or want to turn kanji characters into illustrations. Beginners are welcome! While we have example kanji characters and brush stroke order texts for your reference, feel free to complete a work that does not fit any mold. Write your version of the kanji character on a traditional paper fan and take it home to commemorate your experience. Decorate your home with a memory from Rusutsu Resort.

Rent a Kimono

Stroll through the hotel in a kimono, Japan’s traditional attire

Kimono patterns have many meanings: the three evergreen trees represent the brilliance of life and strength, cherry blossoms symbolize the desire for prosperity and celebration of new beginnings, and wisteria represents longevity and a prosperous family. This kimono-wearing experience provides the fun of selecting a kimono, the fun of wearing it, and an authentic taste of Japan.
